Ace Hood – Long Way
Ace Hood looks to the past on “Long Way.”
Underwear brand Ethika recently took a dive into the mixtape game. Bringing together a sturdy roster of talent for their debut compilation, the RGB Mixtape featured a slew of heavy hitters; Weezy, Kodak Black, Kid Ink, and Ace Hood were among some of the project’s notable names.
The latter has consistently felt like a slept-on entity since his arrival to the scene, and last year’s Trust The Process was a commendable effort for the Floridian.
And while Ace Hood remains on the noble pursuit of upward mobility, he has yet to forget the dark days of the come-up; as Tory Lanez once said, Memories Don’t Die.
Over a dark, synth driven instrumental, Ace Hood delves into autobiography. Citing Cash Money Records as a major influence, Ace Hood paints a vivid picture of teenage aesthetic, rapping “I remember rocking Bugle Boy but now I’m buttoned up.” Check out the track now, and show some love to one of hip-hop’s most underrated.
I been gassing up the tank it ain’t no letting up
I ‘member rocking Bugle boy but now I’m buttoned up
Them sucker n***s they would laugh when I was coming up
And now your girl would sell her soul to stand in front of us
Boy I got the juice I got the glow I’m screaming hallelujah
Fashion week in NYC I feel like Rick The Ruler
